Where to Ask First
For current Lenoir County jail custody, start with Sheriff Jackie Rogers' office and the W.E. "Billy" Smith Detention Center. The Sheriff's Office and jail are at 130 South Queen Street, Kinston, NC 28502. The main Sheriff's Office and detention number is 252-559-6100. For detention, choose option 2. For the booking desk or on-duty supervisor, use 252-559-6100 ext. 6183.
For records and reports, call 252-559-6100 and choose option 1 for Records, Reports, Civil Papers, or Information. The Reports Processing Clerk is listed at ext. 5070. Lenoir County's incident report form states there is no fee for each incident report, delivery is by email only, and normal processing is 1-3 business days after any identity check. The Sheriff's FAQ also says incident reports may be picked up in person Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
If the question is about court charges, court dates, or bond after an arrest, the jail may not be the final source. The Lenoir County Courthouse and Clerk of Superior Court can be reached at 252-520-5300. Magistrates are listed at 252-520-5430.
